What if? The question behind possibilities

one of the most glorified paintings by Leonardo Da Vinci. source; pixels. com

Davinci’s demons is a historical drama series depicting the life of Leornado da Vinci. The main actor, Leonardo is an eccentric genius. Because of this some call him mad, others delusional and others eccentric from his extra ordinary personality and his conviction that he can create anything from his imagination.

He is an artist, inventor and knowledgeable about all disciplines. This quality makes him sought after by leaders of cities and kingdoms even the pope of all of Rome. One particular remarkably exceptional thing he did was engineer his way out of being put to death after he was wrongfully arrested for sodomy( yes, it was a crime😕) this was after everyone else had tried and given up on him.

His wit, thankfully, is accompanied by charm and good looks making women of all stature lust over him (😍 far from the point) and defying the common definition of nerds( no offense intended🙊)

Leonardo, in this exceptional series reminds me of my childhood. Well, everyone’s childhood I suppose. The innocent belief and conviction that is free from the world’s definition of reality. The belief that you can be anything and can dream far beyond imagination.

Do you recall your childhood dreams?Your wildest dreams those days when you dare to glimpse far beyond the limits that the world set.

Most of us joined highschool with big dreams. For instance you would say you wanted to become a doctor in form one. In form two, you lower the bar a little and say a nurse. By the time you are done with your final exams, your dreams have been reduced to ‘whatever’.

We all in some way have succumbed to the world’s definition of reality, of success and of what we are capable of.

I keep wondering what if you could stop listening. What if we all could stop listening to that voice that keeps telling us that we can’t do this or that or that no one else has ever done it so neither can we.

No human is limited

Eliud Kipchoge

You know what Davinci says when people call him mad and delusional? He shrugs and says he has heard that before and never has he let it stop him.

Sadly, there is always a price to pay for every path we choose.Whether we choose greatness or mere mediocrity. Leonardo for one, had to abandon the woman he loved and slay those who stood between him and his pursuit for greatness.

Paraphrasing what Christian Mihai(my favourite blogger) wrote- You can either choose to conquer the world or to conquer your desire to conquer the world, either way we all end up in one common destination; death

The big question is, are you willing to pay the price?
